About Candace

“Life is a road we travel seeking definition for who we are and who we’re fashioned to be. Oftentimes, we make our ultimate destination SUCCESS; however, we cannot become that until we realize that this life is not about us at all.” -Candace Ledbetter

She is recognized as a “go-to” girl and a “person to watch” in the industry of broadcasting and entertainment. She is Candace Ledbetter, celebrated radio producer, prolific writer, prophetic songwriter and talented multi-media professional who is taking the world by storm. Deemed a master of written image and presentation, Candace’s instinctive knowledge, skill and creativity proves her ability to perform any task. She’s equipped, she’s qualified and she is a force to be reckoned with!

Candace’s love for radio, television and entertainment began at the innocent age of seven. Often mimicking television news reporters and radio disc jockeys, she bared no qualms of performing to her audience of dolls, trinkets, siblings and neighborhood friends. However, as she grew, her audiences grew as well into church congregations, youth groups, school pep rallies and community events where she would be requested to sing, speak, act and/or organize for programs. When she matriculated to Virginia State University (Petersburg, VA) in August 1993, it was a no-brainer for her to pursue the education of what was most natural to her; thus, she majored in English/Mass Communications and began her journey toward destiny.

During her years at Virginia State University (VSU), Candace gained popularity as the president of the Mass Communications Club, as a controversial advice columnist of the university newspaper The Virginia Statesman and as the Voice of the VSU Marching Trojan Explosion – the nationally celebrated marching band of her alma mater where she served and made history as the first female announcer of an HBCU marching band. Her peers and instructors admired her zeal and ability to do anything, and because she was so good with words, she was often sought after to write scripts and content for major projects. While in school, she landed internships at the university radio station – WVST; FOX Television in Washington, D.C.; and WPGC (CBS Radio) in Maryland. What’s more, Candace received many awards and accolades, including the title of “Most Likely to Become the Next Oprah”.

Upon graduation, Candace returned to her hometown of Woodbridge, VA. and entered the workforce at Capital One Financial Services, Inc. After three years, she became an educator within the Prince William County school system. There, she served as an 8th grade language arts teacher for Rippon Middle School and coached the award-winning Rippon Raider step team for four years. Though she had established reasonable success, and had maintained a comfortable secure life for herself, Candace realized that she was not where she was supposed to be. After 13 years of living outside of her destiny, the draw for something greater, both personally and professionally, alerted her that a transition was near.

In September of 2006, Candace Ledbetter put her faith into action and transitioned to Atlanta, GA., where she established herself as a freelance writer. Within months, she was serving as an editorial assistant and writer for local and national magazines, to include: Gospel Today Magazine, Average Girl Magazine, Written Magazine, The New Birth Voice and VerticalFix.com. In 2007, she became the Director of Marketing & Communications for the Atlanta Metropolitan Black Chamber of Commerce, which gave her the privilege to network, educate and assist the success of the Atlanta Black business community. Shortly after her professional elevation, she returned to her first love of broadcasting and enrolled in the Connecticut School of Broadcasting to sharpen her skills in radio and television production. Before she graduated in January 2008, Candace had the privilege of interviewing local and national celebrities on the red carpet of the Trumpet Awards.

Soon thereafter, she forged her way into the broadcast industry by landing a position as a highly sought after producer at Atlanta’s People’s Station, V-103 (WVEE-Atlanta). Candace has served as producer on such shows as the acclaimed Quiet Storm and Love & Relationships series hosted by Joyce Littel on V-103; Real Estate 101 with Mary Gill, The Rick Joyner Show, and Too Much Truth with Derrick Boazman – all broadcasted on News & Talk 1380, WAOK. Candace has also produced special shows for Al B. Sure, Kandi Burruss, Jagged Edge, Brian McKnight and Boris Kodjoe & Nicole Ari Parker.

In just a few years, after moving to a city where she knew no one, Candace Ledbetter has established an unmistakable footing of success, but there’s so much more to come! Currently, she is in the process of becoming a published author and is forming a non-profit organization for the advancement of African American boys. While developing these goals, Candace continues to operate as a freelance writer and will be debuting her multi-media company in the near future.
